July 7 Update
If you haven't heard by now Bryce Saldi was in a skate boarding accident in California, and suffered a severe brain injury. Bryce is currently at one of the best neurosurgeon hospitals in the world, Loma Linda Hospital in Ontario California. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the ICU unit. We have gotten a little bit of responses to pain through finger movement from him and they have gotten better since the accident happened Friday evening. We wanted to create this blog just to keep everyone updated on his status as well as a chance for people to post comments on this page. We ask everyone to please be praying for Bryce and hope for the best.

ReplyDeleteHang in there
Life is a journey up this big impossible ladder
Most of the time we climb it well
Sometimes we slip and find ourselves
hanging on by our finger nails
Sometimes it saps so much energy, the will is sourly affected
Sometimes we are doing the climbing for others
who piggy back on our energies
Other times you even have some
trying to push you off the ladder
And when you shout for help, no comes
Most of the time we are so engrossed in our ladders
that we cannot see others struggling
But you hang in there
The climbing will get easier
and you will become stronger and wiser
11:15 Pacific Time: Update:
ReplyDeleteBryce has fought through some of the most critical parts of this process and he is still fighting. Right now he is still in the same condition which all we can ask for right now because he is in the healing process which takes time and patience. Doctors say that this could take 6 days, 6 weeks, or 6 months, all we can do is pray for a healthy recovery. Good news is that Bryce is young, healthy and in shape which really helps with the healing process. Sorry if our family isn't responsive to everyones phone calls and texts. Our phones have been blowin up, so we thought this blog would be the best way to keep everyone updated. I know everyone is praying for him and we are really grateful for all of them. Please keep praying... THANK YOU
If people ask about him, please refer this blog site... Thanks Again
Bryce, your family, and all the doctors and nurses are constantly in our prayers. We know the power of prayer is awesome and will send the request for all of our friends to pray for you. Please stay strong for Bryce and thank you for the blog info.

12:08 Pacific Time Update:
ReplyDeleteBryce had a bit of a rough night last night because they lowered the sedation level to see how he would react to it... His reaction wasn't too good, but doctors say that he is a lot better this morning. Still the same level of reactions to pain (squeezing his hand to pain and wiggling his freakishly long toes when pinched). Last night he actually moved his whole arm without any pain test(which is a good sign). His lungs are still doing good since the procedure on Monday. His brain pressure is down a little bit since yesterday, which is good. We still have to be patient in this whole healing process because it takes a while. Thanks again for everyone's support... I'll have another update posted tonight with his status
All of the Soulakis family's thoughts and prayers are with you all... Keep fighting Bryce!!
ReplyDeleteLove, dina and family

ReplyDeleteBryce is doing really well today. A lot better than he was doing last night. They put a camera in his lung today to check for anymore bacteria that was found on Sunday of this week. They said it looked pretty good but we are still waiting for the results to come back. His brain pressure has gone down more today as well. His breathing was good today, he would get aggravated when they would run tests on him or when they would turn him over. Will post an update later tonight.... Thanks again for everyone's support
Zac,
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping all of us updated by your blog. I was just talking with your Mom at Coal Vines on July 3rd. We were talking about Bryce and footbal and catching up on our boys. Bryce was one of the first kids Patrick met when we moved to Timberlake in 1996. I still remember Bryce, Patrick, And T.J. running the neighborhood together. Fun memories: )
Please tel your parents everyone in Southlake is praying and pulling for Bryce. Remember Bryce is a fighter, a fire cracker and an incredible kid.
May God Hold you and your family in the Palm of His Hand, especially Bryce in this very trying time.
Please tell your Mom I am thinking and praying for her strength daily.
God Bless.... Christine McGowan and Family

ReplyDeleteAs you all know, my son, Bryce, has been in the hospital for the past few days due to his skateboarding injury. He is making some progress and is slowly being weaned off the amount of oxygen needed. Also, the doctors inserted an additional chest tube in order to help reinflate Bryce’s collapsed lung. That procedure significantly improved Bryce’s condition, allowing him to breathe more easily and help his lung heal. Unfortunately right now he has a minor case of pneumonia, but he is being treated and this is not a major concern at the moment. On a positive note, the doctors are no longer worried about the pressure in Bryce’s brain, and felt it was okay to remove the ICP monitor. Finally, I wanted to thank all of you for everything you have done for my son, my family, and me. The overwhelming kindness coming from every person I speak with has helped me through this very difficult time more than anyone could know. Without this kindness or without your constant love and prayers, Bryce and our family would not have the support that we so desperately need. Everything everyone has done and every word spoken is continuously with us and with him and I thank you for that. Please keep praying.
We have all of you on our minds and in our hearts, 24-7, sending you much strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, as we pray continuously for Bryce's complete recovery. We love that boy. God bless you guys and hold you steady. XOXOX
